The spring feeder is designed to be attached to the base of a feed drum/barrel/bucket to make an automatic feeder (a hole approximately 50mm in diameter will need to be cut in the base), when the birds peck the spring, a small amount of feed is dispensed from the container - this reduces the waste of feed greatly.
